Cambridge Distillery Featured as the World’s Leading Gin Producer in Award-Winning Global Documentary ‘Drink’
We are proud to announce that Cambridge Distillery has been chosen to represent the global gin category in the internationally acclaimed documentary series Drink, which is streaming now on Prime Video and Apple TV. We are also honoured to be the only English brand featured in the series, standing alongside the world’s most iconic names in spirits, including The Macallan and Rémy Martin.
Drink is a five-part documentary that explores the deep connection between alcohol, the land it comes from, and the visionary makers shaping its future. Each episode is a journey into the history, process, and artistry behind the world’s most celebrated drinks. The series has already garnered high praise, winning a Webby Award for Best Food and Drink Series, three Telly Awards (Best Non-Scripted Series, Best Food Series, Best Documentary Series), and the prestigious James Beard Award for Best Travel Visual Media.
In Episode 4, Cambridge Distillery takes centre stage with the creation of Darwin Gin: Americas Herbarium, a limited release inspired by Charles Darwin’s first voyage on HMS Beagle. Co-Founder and Master Distiller William Lowe MW, in collaboration with Professor Sam Brockington of the Cambridge University Botanic Garden, had the rare opportunity to examine Darwin’s original botanical specimens, discoveries that were pivotal in the development of evolutionary theory.
The episode follows William Lowe MW as he meticulously creates Darwin Gin, blending historical reverence with cutting-edge distillation techniques. The film also features appearances by notable industry voices, including Emma Stokes (@ginmonkey), Chef Tristan Welch, and Rob Whitehead of Berry Bros. & Rudd, as they discuss how Cambridge Distillery is redefining what gin can be through innovation, precision, and passion.
Renowned for its boundary-pushing releases such as Japanese Gin, Truffle Gin (the world’s first digestif gin), Anty Gin (the first gin made with insects), and the ultra-premium Watenshi, Cambridge Distillery has led a revolution in gin production.
We’re thrilled to share our story with a global audience and to showcase how British craft can lead the world stage with innovation, quality, and imagination.
